Important Information

We believe in being transparent about the realities of hatching shipped eggs.

Hatching eggs are fragile and sensitive to handling, temperature changes, and incubation practices.

Because of this:

  • Hatch rates are not guaranteed
  • Fertility and viability cannot be guaranteed
  • Results vary based on incubation methods and conditions

What to Expect

Shipped hatching eggs typically have lower hatch rates than locally sourced eggs due to:

  • Transit movement and vibration
  • Temperature fluctuations
  • Incubation variables

Many customers achieve successful hatches with proper setup, care, and attention to incubation conditions. An incubation guide is included with every order to help support your success.

Meet the Rare Serama Chicken — The Smallest Chicken in the World

Tiny, charming, and full of personality—Serama chickens are the world’s smallest chicken breed! Don’t let their size fool you: these little birds strut around with big confidence, upright posture, and tails held high like royalty. They may be miniature, but they’ll quickly steal the spotlight (and your heart).

History:

Originating in Malaysia, Seramas were bred to be companions as much as poultry. Their name is inspired by “Sri Rama,” a noble figure in legend, which is fitting for their regal stance. Over time, they’ve become beloved worldwide for their beauty, friendly nature, and versatility as both pets and show birds.

Egg Facts:

Serama hens lay small, cream-colored eggs—usually about 4–5 per week. They’re not kept primarily for egg production, but their little gifts are frequent, reliable, and just the right size for novelty dishes or kids’ snacks. Many hens lay year-round with the right care.

Size & Build:

Weighing less than 1 pound, Seramas are truly pocket-sized! They come in an incredible range of feather colors and patterns, from glossy black to golden, mottled, or white. Some even have silky or frizzled feathers for extra flair. Think of them as the “fashion models” of the chicken world—tiny, unique, and always striking a pose.

Weather Hardiness:

Because of their size, Seramas need a little extra TLC:

  • They do best in warm, draft-free housing. Extra heat may be needed in colder climates.

  • Their small frames make them more vulnerable to predators—secure coops are essential.

  • They eat less than larger breeds, but benefit from high-quality feed and supplements.

Personality:

Gentle, friendly, and surprisingly affectionate, Seramas are often described as “lap chickens.” Many enjoy being handled, carried, or even living partly indoors as companion pets. They’re calm with people and other chickens, making them a wonderful choice for families and small flocks.

Why You’ll Love Them:

If you’re looking for a chicken that’s adorable, easy to keep, and full of personality, the Serama is hard to beat. Whether strutting proudly in the yard, perched on your shoulder, or cuddling in your hand, these tiny birds bring joy, beauty, and a touch of elegance to any flock.

Perfect for collectors, families, and anyone looking to add something truly unique and rewarding to their flock.
