Originating in Malaysia, Seramas were bred to be companions as much as poultry. Their name is inspired by “Sri Rama,” a noble figure in legend, which is fitting for their regal stance. Over time, they’ve become beloved worldwide for their beauty, friendly nature, and versatility as both pets and show birds.
Egg Facts:
Serama hens lay small, cream-colored eggs—usually about 4–5 per week. They’re not kept primarily for egg production, but their little gifts are frequent, reliable, and just the right size for novelty dishes or kids’ snacks. Many hens lay year-round with the right care.
Size & Build:
Weighing less than 1 pound, Seramas are truly pocket-sized! They come in an incredible range of feather colors and patterns, from glossy black to golden, mottled, or white.
